A girl’s first period is a stepping stone to becoming a young woman, however, it can also be a scary and unknown time. Code Red is a first-period box for young women who have to navigate this life change on their own.

The target audience for Code Red is girls ages 10-14. The experience of opening the package is similar to opening a feminine product. As stated in the How to Use panel, this method is so the user already is familiar with the motions of how to use a pad. The user is greeted with a variety of information in a friendly tone that helps to continue the period discussion and know they are not alone. The quote featured on the first reveal reads: “Take a deep breath and think of the three things you are grateful for, right at this moment.” When lifted out of the box, the back has six chocolates, one for every day of their period. Underneath is a bag with pads to help the user be prepared on the go, as well as a supply of various sized pads. For users who age with the product, the brand extends into individual pad backs, tampons of varying sizes, ibuprofen, and tea bags.
