Corita’s work evolved from figurative and religious to incorporating advertising images and slogans, popular song lyrics, biblical verses, and literature. One of the main elements is the use of vertical lines and shapes that were used as chapter heads and to identify information for the images used. This book also features a fold-out of her art rules used when Kent was teaching at IHC and a clear overlay on a chapter head. Corita was a screen printer, and the overlay is to convey the idea of screen-printing and how much information would be on a single color panel. If the viewer wished, they could remove the clear sheet and burn it, making their version of a Corita print.
